We're at war... Few like to consider it, but on September 11th, 2001 Islamic radicals attacked the United States of America – again – and perpetrated the cowardly destruction of three thousand innocent lives. We didn’t ask to be attacked; we didn’t deserve to be attacked; but attacked we were. It therefore makes little difference as to the root cause of this dastardly deed, for such things can only be considered when the fighting has ceased and the enemy vanquished. Until then, we’re at war…
This means that our lives are in constant peril, our liberties under duress, and our national security under threat. The Islamists (and their supporters) have shown that they do not care for international law, diplomatic courtesy, or the dignity and integrity of innocent human lives. They view us as merely a barrier towards their goal of ultimate tyranny.
INERT Special Operations Group (I-SOG) believes that if civilians have been directly targeted, then civilians must take direct responsibility for their own safety and security. Our proud military and federal forces are over-stretched and under-resourced; it is high time that we give them the aid that they require to protect and serve us. I-SOG will do its share through the training and education of the public – through our involvement within the Independent Counterterrorist Training Program, for instance – but we also believe that “Legitimate defense can be not only a right but a grave duty for someone responsible for another’s life, the common good of the family or of the state” [Catechism of the Catholic Church #2265] and we therefore reserve the right to do whatever it takes to neutralize the terrorist threat against our nation and its three hundred million citizens. Period. |

...to defend all innocent lives. Institutions tend to remain segregators. For whatever reason, they seek to isolate humanity into distinct groups and congregations. INERT, however, values the individual human person. We respect the inalienable right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” accorded to all individuals regardless of their religion, nationality, ethnicity, position in society, and sex. We respect the right of all individuals to freely voice their thoughts and criticize their governments. We judge people, not by the color of their skin or the thoughts within their mind, but by the actions they intentionally undertake.
Only when an individual’s or a group’s intentions place other human individuals into direct harm do we take exception…and action. For there remain incidents of such severity and criticality that remaining isolated and unresponsive lead to global atrocities. Genocide, famine, and terrorism affect the planet, not just the comparatively small communities affected by these crises. Natural disasters are bad enough, but regional hostilities and international crimes taint the human condition. Then, there remains the infinite “unthinkable” – nuclear terrorism.
The intentional destruction of one or more cities through the terrorist use of a nuclear device or the disruption caused by the deployment of a radiological device bear upon all who respect the dignity and integrity of innocent human lives. Perpetrators of such mayhem have voluntarily forfeited the office of “human” that all earthly persons have been bequeathed with. Individuals and groups who indiscriminately use such weapons of mass destruction do not earn the charity and justice bestowed upon by their fellow man. Nor will they be looked upon with compassion by INERT. The International Nuclear Emergency Response Team’s Special Operations Group (I-SOG) will target any individual or group that seeks to indiscriminately murder by the hundreds, by the thousands, or by the millions. By any means necessary… |
